An honest account of where every dollar goes and what it makes possible.
Updated moments ago · Published monthlyThe fund moves constantly as gifts come in and deeds go out. A lower number here doesn't mean a need won't be met — it just means it's a good time to help it grow.
These costs are currently covered personally by Canopy's founder, not yet deducted from the donation fund shown above. Shown at current monthly rates; payment processing fees are pulled directly from Stripe, not estimated.
Deeds completed per month — this chart will fill in as Canopy grows.
No cash ever passes to members or recipients. Every deed is paid directly to the vendor. Money never moves to a person's bank account.
No recipient names are ever recorded. Requests are reviewed, deeds are fulfilled, and all identifying information is discarded. The fund tracks categories and costs — never people.
Every fund disbursement has a receipt. No deed is closed without documentation. Receipts are retained for internal records but never published.
Every disbursement is personally reviewed before it goes out. Right now that review is done by Canopy's founder. As the team grows, a second reviewer will be added for anything above $100 — we'll update this the day it happens.
This report is updated every month. If something changes in how we operate or spend, it appears here. We don't wait for a year-end summary.
Canopy is not a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means donations are not tax-deductible. We want to be clear about that upfront.
We made this choice deliberately. Becoming a formal nonprofit means board requirements, annual filings, restricted fund usage, and overhead that pulls money away from deeds. We chose to stay a private society — lean, direct, and entirely focused on the people we're trying to help.
What we offer instead: everything on this page. Every dollar traced, vendor-direct payments so no cash ever passes through a person's hands, and a monthly account of what your contribution made possible. If tax deductibility matters for a larger gift, reach out at hello@canopygives.org — we can discuss fiscal sponsorship arrangements.

"When I started Canopy, this report was full of zeros and a promise to keep it honest. Those zeros are gone now — replaced by real deeds, real dollars, and people who trusted a stranger's quiet fund enough to give. That trust is the whole point. I'll keep this page current, keep every dollar traceable, and keep showing up the same way every month: honestly, and on time."✦ Courtney, Canopy founder
